An alarming statistical increase of allergies and asthma in the U.S. has become a key issue driving the development of products that improve indoor air quality (IAQ).
ProTeam is proud to have established a partnership with the American Lung Association (ALA) to educate the public about indoor air quality. This is the first full-scale partnership of its kind between the ALA and a vacuum cleaner manufacturer.
The ALA is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States, with a National Office and constituent and affiliate associations around the country. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, they have expanded their efforts to lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health. The ALA is funded by contributions from the public along with gifts and grants from corporations, foundations and government agencies. Many successes come through the work of thousands of committed volunteers and staff.
According to John Kirkwood, CEO of the ALA, “the exclusive ProTeam educational partnership recognizes the American Lung Association's mission of preventing lung disease and promoting lung health. We are excited to be working with ProTeam since they are a company that shares our vision."

A vacuum is one of the most vital cleaning tools in a maintenance worker’s arsenal, with the ability to dramatically improve productivity, indoor air quality (IAQ) and overall cleanliness in one well-filtrated sweep. Selecting the right vacuum to suit your specific needs is never easy—considering the range of options on the market today. Understanding which types of models work best for your conditions will make purchasing the right vacuum simpler.
Numerous studies tout the real advantages—economically and ergonomically—of using backpack vacuums over traditional uprights. Studies show that, when combined with an effective cleaning program, quality backpacks can increase productivity by up to 70% without adding staff.
But what if using a backpack vacuum isn’t practical or preferable for your cleaning needs? Quality speed canister vacuums and dual-motor uprights can provide excellent filtration and a certifiably deep clean while saving you measurable time and money.

Using the right vacuum is a positive step towards removing contaminants from more than just floors. Look for these features when considering a new machine:
Airflow:
Volume of air moving through the vacuum (usually described by manufacturers in cubic feet per minute). Airflow affects the amount of soil that can be carried along and contained in the vacuum’s filtration.
Lift:
The ability of the vacuum’s airflow to lift dirt (typically measured in “inches of lift”).
Filtration:
Capturing of soils, mainly responsible for reducing “particles out.” Filtration must be designed to work with airflow and lift so that the particles are stopped, but not the airflow.
Design:
Mechanical elements that can reduce airflow or allow dust to pass by a filter without being caught (for example, gaps in the vacuum body that allow dust to leak out).

ProTeam and the American Lung Association have renewed their very successful partnership of educating the general public on the effects of unhealthy IAQ in schools, office buildings and public environments. Since 2002, ProTeam and the ALA have joined forces in developing cooperative educational materials that help companies find solutions to unhealthy cleaning practices. Cleaning for Health has been our defining mission and we have sent more than 500,000 messages via advertising, email, product packaging and sales literature throughout our industry in hopes of changing people's perceptions that cleaning does, in fact, affect all of us...in more ways then we want to admit. For more information on Cleaning for Health or our cooperative ALA educational information, visit our website section:
